Thesis Statement
In 1862, New Ulm, Minnesota,the goverment violated the compromise that they had made with the Indians. The failure to provide food and money led to conflict, lnown as the Dakota War. Indian and American settlers faced each other in a battle that had severe consequences. Thirty-eight Dakota Indians are executed; Americans no longer trusted Indians and Dakota Indians were banned from Minnesota Reservations.
