I personally got rid of him and didn't safe the game because i didn't like the effects it had on my gameboy. To get 99 of an item place that item in the 6 space to do that go to that item press select and move it to the 6 space and press select again. Then go to the old man that at first would not let you out of Viridian City. Incase you have no grey matter in your head he is in Viridian City, at the border. Then fly to Fuchia city and move south. Make your way to the seafoam islands and go up and down the coast until you face M a glitch like missingno and make him faint. But when I did it I did not find M I found Missingno, but when I beat him there I did get the 99 items even though it was missingno instead of M.
