Where did the Monerans go?

Age: 12From: Upper Marlboro, MD

*Do you know what Monerans are?

Monerans are a group of one-celled organisms that have been present on Earth for about 3.5 billion years. Monerans are grouped into bacteria and cyanobacteria, about 1,800 species of Monerians have been named. Did you know that Monerans are both helpful and harmful to other organisms much larger than themselves? Did you know that bacteria is a type of Moneran, bacteria are one-celled organisms that have no nucleus? Bacteria are found in every possible place on Earth, from snow to boiling springs, to the lining of your intestine and on your skin. Although some bacteria cause, illnesses most bacteria are important for their helpful qualities. Many bacteria digest and recycle materials. Did you know that spoiled food is very useful to bacteria? Did you know that bacteria helps break down materials to a simpler substance that becomes available for use by other living things?

*Could you imagine a world without Moneran?

Without Monerans this world would be alot different than it is now. Without Monerans there would be no bacteria to help decompose and break down materials that other living things depend on. If we did not have bacteria we would not even have yogurt. Without Monerans the whole chemical balance of the circle of life would be ruined.
