There are two main groups of monerans-bacteria and blue-green bacteria, also called cynobacteria.
Story
Types of monerans are: 1.) bacteria 2.) Cyanobacteria 3.)Escherichia coli 4.)Lactobacillus acidophilus 5.)Eubacteria 6.)Archaebacteria (one celled-organisms) about bacteria about bactreia: Bacteria are one-celled organisms that have no nucleus. They have, instead, a singular DNA molecule. Bacteria have an outer boundary called a cell wall. They are found in every possible place on earth, from snow to boiling springs, to the lining of your intestine and on your skin. Bacteria have been classified and named like other organisms. They are sometimes cateogorized by their forms which may be roundlike, round, and spiral.
Cyanobacteria Cyanobacteria are monerans that contain blue pigments, which is why they are also called blue-green bacteria. They live in fresh water, salt water, and soil. Cyanobacteria are producers. They contain Cholorophyll, a green substance that enables them to make food from carbon dioxide in the presence of sunlight and also produce oxyegon, which you breathe. How ever, too many organisms in lakes and ponds can be harmful. Have you ever seen pond cover with smelly green slime? Fertilizers washed into ponds from nearby farm fields supply nutrients for the cyanobacteria IN THE POND. The Cyanobacteria then reproduce rapidly. The nutreints get used up and large numbers of Cyanobacteria begin to die. Other bacteria in the pond begin to feed on their remains. As the bacteria consume the dead cyanobacteria, they use up the oxyegon in the water. In extreme cases, reduced oxyegon causes fish and other organsims in the pond to die.
In dustrial uses Industries other than the food industry also reley on bacteria. Micro biologists have found ways to put bacteria to use in manufacturing medinces, cleansers, adhesives, and other products. Disease-causing bacteria. Although many bacteria are helpful rather than harmful, you have probably firsthand experince with a bacteria that cause disease. Ear infections, tooth decay, and strep throat, for example, are caused by bacteria. Other bacteria that cause diphtheria and whooping cough in humans have had signifagant impact on world history. Acne infections result when bacteria use oils produced by cells as a source of food.
Monerans effect monerans are both helpful and harmful to other organisms much larger thanthemselves. The word bacteria may make you remeber a sore throat or illness that was caused by these micooraganisms. Perhaps it is unfortunate that most publicity given to bacteria is negative, because only a few bacteria cause illness. Most bacteria are important for their helpful qualities. Bacteria as Recyles Besides protecting your body from certain diseases, many bactreia digest and recyle materials. Spoiled only because it is no longer useful to you. However, it is very useful to bacteria. With the help of bacteria, materials are broken down to simpler sbtances and become available for use by other living things. You will learn more about the importance of organisms that recycle materails when you study ecology in chapters11-16 (Example here) When the temperature of milk is controlled, and certain bacteria area added to milk the milk changes into yogurt. Read about yogurt cultures on a yogurt carton. Bacteria and food Have you ever eaten bacteria for lunch. As you know many foods are made with the help of bacteria. Bacteria breaks down substances in milk to produce different types of cheeses They are also the important factor in making yogurt and Saerktraut Example#1 Part of the preparation of olives that you buy in the store involves treating the olives in a bacterial solution. Example#2 Bacteria breaks down substances in milk to produce cheese. The flavor and texture of the cheese depends on the kinds of bacteria present. The holes in swiss chesse are the result of a species of bacteria that gives off carbon dioxide.
About the moneran kingdom The groupof one-celled organisms known as monerans has been present on earth for about 3.5 billion years. The single cell of the moneran has a very simple organization and does not include a nucleus. About 1800 species of monerans have been named. Monerans are grouped into bacteria and Cyanobacteria.
